What is Electrology?
Electrology is the method by which unwanted hair is permanently removed from the face and body. The procedure involves the insertion of a very fine needle/probe into the hair follicle followed by a brief application of low-intensity current. The current destroys the hair growth tissue at the base of the follicle eliminating the hairs ability to regenerate.
How many treatments are required?
The number of treatments necessary varies with each client. Hair growth cycles, quantity of hair, previous temporary hair removal methods, hormone function, and medications can all influence how long the treatment process will take.
What areas of the body can you treat?
Unwanted hair can be safely removed from most areas of the body. The inside of the ears and nostrils should not be treated.
Are the treatments painful?
Everyone's pain tolerance is different. The pain sensors vary throughout the body. Some areas, such as the upper lip, can be more sensitive. What a client usually feels is a sensation of warmth and a slight sting. There are a number of topical anesthetics available for us to use to make the treatment comfortable for you.
Will electrolysis cause skin damage?
There is no permanent skin damage. Immediately following treatment, there will be some redness and/or swelling in the area of treatment. This will usually disappear in a few hours. Aftercare instructions will be discussed with you at your first visit.
About Permanent Cosmetics
What is permanent cosmetic make-up?
Permanent cosmetic make-up is a tattooing process used to apply eyeliner, lip color, and eyebrow hair simulation. It is also used to correct or camouflage loss of natural pigment in the skin.
Is it really permanent?
Yes, but as with any tattoo, fading can occur. How you care for your tattoo will help keep it looking good.
How long does each procedure take?
The initial procedure will be about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Touch up procedures usually require less time.
What will I look like following the procedure?
Immediately after the procedure the area will look much darker and much more dramatic than the final results. Be prepared for the color to be lighter, softer and more natural after the healing process.
What is a touch-up and why do I need one?
A touch-up is a color re-enhancement. Almost always the implanted color is not perfect after the first procedure. Touch-ups are usually done four to six weeks after the initial procedure.
